Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is a liver disease caused by the hepatitis C virus. Acute hepatitis is often short term and may cause infections. Chronic hepatitis is more progressive and can lead to cirrhosis of the liver. Most patients do not experience symptoms until the virus progresses into a more severe stage. Contact your doctor to get screened if you have a history of sharing needles, have had a sexual partner with hepatitis C, or feel as though you are at an increased risk.
