Stomach

The stomach is a muscular organ that receives food from the esophagus. Food enters the stomach through a muscular valve called the lower esophageal sphincter. The stomach secretes acid and enzymes that digest food. The stomach muscles contract periodically, churning food to enhance digestion to allow food to pass into the small intestine.

Most people experience stomach problems at some point in their lifetimes, such as indigestion or heartburn. However, the frequent occurrence may be due to a specific condition or more severe issue. Please, schedule and appointment with your physician to discuss your symptoms.
