Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

A flexible sigmoidoscopy is an examination of the lower part of the colon (sigmoid) that screens for polyps and colon cancer, reasons for rectal bleeding, chronic diarrhea, and colitis.

Preparing for a flexible sigmoid takes about a day to clean the colon. You must avoid solid food for a day before the procedure as well as any NSAIDs, blood thinners and medications containing iron, to name a few. For more information, please contact our office.
